Suns likely to face Warriors in regular-season home opener

The Phoenix Suns will play their first home game of the 2026-27 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 24, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported Wednesday.

Gambadoro adds he would not be surprised if the opponent is the Golden State Warriors.

Phoenix’s season opener on the road is not yet known. The NBA’s full regular-season slate will be revealed Thursday at noon MST.

Golden State won the regular-season series, 3-1, last year before the two teams squared off in a play-in game, which Phoenix won to earn the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Warriors retained their core of Steph Curry, Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr this summer. They’re entering their second full season with Jimmy Butler, but he is recovering from a torn ACL and not expected back until near the trade deadline.

Golden State’s biggest addition came with the 11th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, former Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg, who went on to win the Las Vegas Summer League title and was named tournament MVP.

Golden State will have opened its regular season on Oct. 21 against the Los Angeles Lakers on ESPN.

Phoenix’s NBA Cup group play schedule was announced earlier on Wednesday.
