So much for having a little fun.
After Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks and Underdog poked fun at Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s foul-baiting tactics in a board game called Unethical Hoops, the two-time NBA MVP’s people want the game destroyed and his name, image and likeness removed from association with it, according to a letter obtained by The Athletic’s Jason Jones:
Eric Fishman of law firm ArentFox Schiff LLP, representing Gilgeous-Alexander, asked Underdog to “permanently cease and desist from any and all use of Mr. Gilgeous-Alexander’s NIL in any and all media, including but not limited to your website (including the Unethical Hoops Website), apps, social media accounts, digital marketing and advertisements, promotional emails, push notifications, affiliate or influencer placements, and any physical goods including but not limited to the board game advertised on the Unethical Hoops Website.”
On top of Brooks and Underdog posting a social media commercial of the game, the company was also expected to give 100 of the board games away.
“Get yours when they come out. … Play your game with your friends and family and get reacquainted with the new foul baiting from the villain,” Brooks said.
As of Thursday morning, the Unethical Hoops website is still up. Winners of the giveaway are expected to be announced Friday.
“Shai has made hoops all about foul baiting and now you’re stuck guarding him in Underdog’s new board game,” the description of the game reads. “Don’t get baited. Steal the ball without getting whistled.”

Duren had one bad matchup in the playoffs. After being All-NBA. That does NOT hurt his value. GMs are not that stupid. And Duren was never, ever a member of the Hornets. You do not understand how draft night trades work in reality. The Suns have zero chance of getting Kessler because every other team that could want him can and will offer more. Richards is NOT a top-3 available 5. No one wants him at any price.
You're better than this. Were you drunk today?
Interesting dilemma going on in Detroit surrounding center Jalen Duren. By being named to the All-NBA 3rd team, Duren is now eligible to sign a five-year max deal with the Detroit Pistons worth a projected $287.1M (30% of the cap):
26-27: $49.5M
27-28: $53.5M
28-29: $57.4M
29-30: $61.4M
30-31: $65.3M
Duren played extremely poorly against the Cavs that contributed to their losing the series. Charlotte traded Jalen Duren in favor of Mark Williams. Duren is tight with Cade Cunningham though and Cade wants Duren back.
Interesting that the three former Hornet centers (Duren, Williams and Richards) are in my opinion the best available centers followed closely by Jock Landale then restricted free agent Walker Kessler. A team would have to massively overpay Kessler to pry him away from Danny Ainge.
I personally would love to see Kessler in Phoenix instead of Williams. Danny Ainge managing his cap space by not extending Kessler last season. Ainge is expected to pay Kessler this summer between $25 to $30 million after he signs other players.
Terrible article. Don’t even know what he’s talking about. How about explaining the game?
