Suns sign Danish guard Iffe Lundberg to 2-way contract

The Phoenix Suns agreed to a two-way contract with Danish guard Iffe Lundberg, the team announced on Saturday.

Lundberg is 27 years old and played for CSKA Moscow in the EuroLeague this season. He and several teammates left the team amid the conflict in Ukraine, and Lundberg paid his own contract buyout, according to EuroHoops.net.

The 6-foot-4 guard is from Copenhagen and has national team experience along with club. He scored 38 points for Denmark in a 2022 EuroBasket tournament qualifying game back in November of 2020. He hit seven of nine threes in that performance.

Lundberg scored 9.1 points per game in 24 EuroLeague contests this season. His three-point shooting percentage fell to 33.8% after he shot a blazing 43.6% from deep in 2020-21.

He has been able to create his own shot off the dribble and use his broad shoulders to muscle through defenders on drives.

Phoenix was one of three teams with a two-way spot open along with the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Ish Wainwright is signed to Phoenix’s other two-way contract.

The Suns have 15 regular season games before the playoffs begin and hold the top spot in the Western Conference by 7.5 games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies.

They take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday at 5 p.m. That game will air on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
