The Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball team will face the Oklahoma Sooners at PHX Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Jerry Colangelo Classic.

The game will take place at the home of the Phoenix Suns and Mercury as part of a doubleheader with Grand Canyon Antelopes, who will play Oklahoma State.

Tip-off times and a TV network have yet to be announced.

“We look forward to playing downtown again for a great event in a fantastic NBA arena,” ASU coach Bobby Hurley said in a press release. “Last year’s event was first class, and we look forward to playing in it again this year against an always good Oklahoma program.”

The doubleheader will mark the first time ASU will play Oklahoma in program history. It will also mark the first time GCU will face off against Oklahoma State.

ASU and GCU played a nonconference game at PHX Arena (formerly Footprint Center) last November, with the Sun Devils beating the ‘Lopes 87-76.

“One of our highlights on the calendar every season is the opportunity to play in downtown Phoenix, and we’re excited to return this season,” GCU head coach Bryce Drew said. “The experience of playing in an NBA venue is incredible.

“We are excited to play against a program we respect like Oklahoma State and bring our students and fans downtown for the day. Tying it all together and playing in an event with Mr. Colangelo’s namesake and involvement adds an extra layer of importance for our program and university. We can’t wait for December.”

Well, at least you know who three losses are going to be. I mean even GCU made the Big Dance this year, Devils couldn't even make it out of the 1st round of some made up tournament with the 100-116 ranked teams in the country.
