ASU basketball to open Acrisure Series against LSU during Thanksgiving week

ASU men’s basketball will play in the Acrisure Series nonconference tournament during Thanksgiving week this upcoming fall, and its first opponent will be the LSU Tigers, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Arizona State will then take on South Carolina.

The Palm Springs tournament will feature 28 teams this season, including GCU, which will face Saint Louis in its opener.

ASU basketball is preparing for its first season under head coach Randy Bennett, who came back to his hometown from Saint Mary’s to replace Bobby Hurley this offseason.

The Sun Devils last played in the Acrisure Series during the 2024-25 campaign, where they defeated Saint Mary’s and New Mexico. Last year they went to the Maui Invitational over Thanksgiving week, beating Texas and Washington State before losing to USC.

LSU is coming off a 15-17 season, leading university to bring back Will Wade for a second stint as head coach. Arizona State has only played LSU twice before in men’s basketball.

ASU has only faced South Carolina once, back in 1982. The Gamecocks went 13-19 last year.

The Sun Devils will also take on Oklahoma in Tulsa this December as part of their SEC-filled nonconference slate.
