ASU basketball lands Cal Baptist transfer Jonathan Griman

The Arizona State men’s basketball team landed a commitment from Cal Baptist transfer Jonathan Griman on Friday, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

The three-year college player started 19 of 31 games last season and averaged 6.1 points and 5.9 rebounds with 0.9 blocks per 23.2 minutes a game. It was his first significant role in three years with the Lancers.

The 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward joined a transfer class that is now eight deep. Before his addition, it was ranked 11th nationally under first-year head coach Randy Bennett.

Griman and center Nate Garcia were both Cal Baptist transfers who followed former Lancers head coach Rick Croy to ASU. The Sun Devils have also landed Croy’s son, JRob Croy, a 4-star point guard prospect previously committed to join Bennett at Saint Mary’s.

The new Arizona State coach has made it a point to add size to the Sun Devils’ roster, with two 7-footers a part of the transfer class (Garcia and Ben Defty) and another (Filip Malesevic) joining from Serbia.
