Arizona State football great Cam Skattebo will make his return to Tempe as an honorary captain in the Territorial Cup on Friday, the team announced Wednesday.

Skattebo’s appearance on Friday will mark his first game in attendance as an ASU alum.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham expressed his excitement on Monday for Skattebo’s return to Tempe.

“I haven’t really mentioned it to the guys yet. But he’s fired up, I’m fired up. It’s what college football is supposed to be. You should graduate from the school and have a passion about that place and come back to that place and feel like you’re at home. And for him to be able to come back, he’s going to feel like he’s at home and it’s just awesome,” Dillingham said.

In two seasons with the Sun Devils, Skattebo rushed for 2,494 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns. As a senior last season, he was a focal point of a Sun Devils team that won the Big 12 championship and reached the quarterfinals of the College Football playoff.

In the Territorial Cup last season, Skattebo rushed for 177 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Sun Devils’ 49-7 win against the Arizona Wildcats.

Skattebo was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was having a very productive rookie season, rushing for 410 yards and scoring seven total touchdowns in eight games before going down with a season-ending ankle injury during the Giants game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26.

Despite the injury, Skattebo has made his presence felt off the field, appearing at events such as UFC 322 and WWE Monday Night Raw.
