Kiper: ASU’s Cam Skattebo a ‘hard one to project’ this NFL Draft

It’s a matter of when, not if, Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo will be taken in the 2025 NFL Draft after an impressive final season with the Sun Devils and a strong offseason of work.
That doesn’t mean pinpointing where he might land is any easier for ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. or other draft analysts, though.

“Hard one to project, because what is Cam going to be in the NFL?” Kiper told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on Tuesday.
“Is he going to be a guy you work in and get a lot of mileage out of and get a lot of production out of but not be the focal point? How is he going to be utilized? … I think he’s probably to me a late Day 2, early Day 3 type of guy.”
If Kiper’s feeling is accurate, Skattebo could find himself landing as high as the third round in next week’s draft.

And while a recent three-round mock draft constructed by Kiper and Field Yates didn’t have Skattebo as a Day 2 pick, there’s no denying what the running back could bring to a team.
“I like the kid and you gotta love the way he plays. Just the way he attacks everything and goes about his business,” Kiper said.
“That’s the type of kid I would like to have on my team. … You want a kid like that. You want a warrior like that on your team.”
Skattebo has stayed busy this offseason, meeting with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants on top 30 visits. He has two more scheduled this week.
Cam Skattebo’s final season at Arizona State
In Skattebo’s last season at Arizona State, the running back racked up 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries.
He also caught 45 balls for 605 yards and three scores and threw a 42-yard touchdown pass in ASU’s Peach Bowl loss to the Texas Longhorns.
In Kiper’s positional rankings for this upcoming draft, Skattebo comes in as the ninth-best running back prospect.

If he's still there, i hope the Cards take him in the 3rd! Would think his spark would be good for the team and of course the fans would love him, heck i'd even consider going to a game.
Why waste a 3rd rounder on a local guy that no one cares about when he'll be available in the 5th? I mean seriously. ASU fans don't go to Cards game, and Cards fans don't give a fck what college any of their players came from. It's the biggest "so what" there is in the sport.
