Cam Skattebo scores hat trick of touchdowns to propel Giants past Eagles in primetime

If the Cam Skattebo hype train was going to lose steam anytime soon, it sure gained a lot more on Thursday.

Skattebo’s New York Giants were in the thick of a primetime divisional battle with the Philadelphia Eagles, trailing 17-13 before he rattled off three unanswered touchdowns to win 34-17.

His three touchdowns — which came on runs of four, one and one yard, respectively — were the most in a single game by an Arizona State Sun Devil since fullback Mike Karney did it with the New Orleans Saints in 2006.

Skattebo had 19 carries for 98 yards to go with the three scores, breaking off runs of 18 and 11 yards on the final drive of the game, which started with 6:50 left, to ice the game.

He also was called for a taunting penalty on the final drive after he gave a defender extra words.

And his night just had to include one of his patented backflips, after he celebrated one of his touchdowns with some other gymnastics.
