Top local 2027 prospect OT Jake Hildebrand commits to Arizona State

Local four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand committed to Arizona State on Tuesday, marking the first Golden Ticket recipient to choose the Sun Devils.

The 6-foot-5.5, 273-pound Hildebrand out of Chandler Basha High School is the No. 83 prospect nationally (No. 11 tackle) and tops in Arizona for the 2027 class, according to 247 Sports.

ASU did not previously have a top-100 national commit from in-state as far back as 247 Sports’ rankings date (2012). Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels in 2019 (No. 35) and Jaden Rashada in 2023 (No. 44), both of whom prepped in California, were its only top-100 commits during that span.

Former Chandler High standout N’Keal Harry in 2016 (No. 117) was previously ASU’s highest-rated commit from in-state. Harry was also the last top in-state prospect to choose ASU out of high school.

Hildebrand participated in the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl and has committed to play in the 2027 edition as well.

He’ll be developed at ASU by offensive line coach Saga Tuitele, who turned Max Iheanachor into a first-round pick at tackle after recruiting him from the JUCO ranks and coaching him all three years he was a Sun Devil.

Hildebrand connected with the OL coach due in part to Tuitele’s presence at Basha, where his son, To’omalatai, was a linebacker and his daughter, Tifaimoana, plays basketball and flag football.

What is a Golden Ticket and why did Jake Hildebrand receive one?

Hildebrand was one of six Arizona prospects in the class of 2027 to receive a Golden Ticket after midnight on June 15, when those players could first be officially contacted about offers. The inaugural recruiting tactic denoted high priority for ASU among local prospects.

“It’s showing they want to keep talent in the state, which is an amazing thing,” Hildebrand told Arizona Sports when he received his. “And I love that we are building this amazing relationship together.”

ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham last summer expressed frustration that local efforts had been largely ineffective early in his tenure, with hopes the new idea would bring about better results.

“Part of the strategy is it’s going to be special to come here again,” Dillingham said. “It’s going to be special, it’s going to be loud. ‘I’m one of the few people who get the opportunity to stay in state.’

“And I think that’s what we’re trying to create is that demand that ASU is a special place for the in-state kids.”

Recipients received social media assets that were unique for them with Golden Ticket designs and extra attention from coaches besides.

While Hildebrand was the highest-ranked among them across all rankings, four of the other five Golden Ticket recipients have already committed elsewhere:

• Goodyear Desert Edge WR Zerek Sidney (No. 6 in Arizona): Washington
• Basha RB Noah Roberts (No. 9 in Arizona): Texas
• Peoria Centennial OT Benjamin Lowther (No. 10 in Arizona): Stanford
• Gilbert Perry QB Kael Snyder (No. 11 in Arizona): Boise State

The only remaining undecided recipient is Chandler High wide receiver/cornerback Jai Jones (No. 4 in Arizona).
