ASU standout defender Lyrik Rawls could return this week vs. BYU

The Sun Devils might see a notable defensive back return from injury this week against ranked BYU.

Watch: Mikey Keene is 'honestly questionable' for ASU-BYU, Dillingham says | 43 seconds

Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham said on Wednesday that starting safety Lyrik Rawls is questionable to play this weekend against No. 8 BYU.

Dillingham also told reporters that quarterback Mikey Keene remains questionable.

Rawls, who transferred to ASU from Kansas last offseason, has not played since Oct. 3 due to a leg injury.

“He’s been looking pretty good,” Dillingham said. “He’s getting his feet back underneath him. He’s still questionable. He’s probably in the questionable range more than doubtful. But he’s definitely working his way back. He’s confident out there. He’s flying around. So it’s good to have him back.”

Rawls produced 11 total tackles, two passes defensed and an interception in four games before he went down against Baylor.

The Sun Devils will also continue to evaluate Keene, as Dillingham said on Monday that freshman Jake Fette would start in Provo if Keene is unavailable.

The Sun Devils take on the Cougars Saturday at 12:30 p.m. MST on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app.
