Phoenix high school basketball star and five-star recruit Cameron Williams has committed to play college ball at Duke over fellow finalist Arizona, he announced Friday on CBS Sports Network.

Williams narrowed his recruitment down to Duke, Arizona and Texas before making the decision in front of a packed audience at Phoenix Saint Mary’s Catholic High School.

ESPN has Williams ranked third overall in the 2026 class, while 247Sports ranked him fourth.

“I’ll be taking my talents to the University of Duke,” Williams said on CBS Sports in a callback to LeBron James’ Decision.

Williams is a 6-foot-11 forward who averaged 18 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 3.6 assists per game for Saint’ Mary’s as a junior in 2024-25, according to MaxPreps.

He is on the Naismith Boys’ High School Player of the Year Watch List.

Per 247Sports scouting director Adam Finkelstein:

Williams is a rapidly ascending prospect with a wealth of long-term tools, and while he is not yet a finished product by any means, he has one of the higher long-term upsides in the class. Now standing at 6-foot-11 with shoes on, he has mobility, athleticism, budding face-up skill and defensive versatility alike.

Williams is the second five-star recruit to commit to Duke in the 2026 class, the other being 6-foot-5 forward Bryson Howard from Texas — the son of former NBA player Josh Howard.

Arizona received the commitment from four-star recruit Cameron Holmes last weekend to kick off its 2026 class. Holmes attends Millennium High School and is the brother of Denver Nuggets forward DaRon Holmes II.

Hey, Skippy, it's Duke University not . . . "University of Duke" . . . If you're going to bail on your state, at least get the name right of where you're headed.

The only college basketball headline and 1) it's about Arizona and 2) Not a word on how bad Play in Bobby is going to get his head kicked in tonight by Gonzaga and 3) why Tonight's attendance at the 'Cristown Mall' Desert Financial Arena might be less the west side of Mill Avenue drunks by 0845. 9:00 p.m. tip?
