Historic win for Koa Peat
The win marked Peat’s fourth gold medal with USA Basketball. He previously won gold medals with the U17 team at the 2022 and 2024 World Cups, and he won gold at the U16 Americas Championship in 2023.
The 6-foot-8, 235-pound five-star forward had an impressive tournament, averaging 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Tommy Lloyd leads Team USA to gold
Led by Wildcats head coach Tommy Lloyd, the U.S. won their ninth gold medal in U19 Men’s World Cup history after failing to medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Lloyd became the second Arizona coach to lead a USA U19 team to gold, joining former coach Sean Miller who led the U19 team to gold in 2015. He led the U18 team to a gold medal in the 2024 FIBA World Cup.

In the group stages yes, not in the knockout phase
One game shouldn’t be the reason someone is awarded tournament MVP. Koa carried that team and the stats back that up.
AJ was better than Koa in the knockout stage. Koa almost lost the US the game vs Canada. You could make an argument that Mikel Brown should have won MVP in terms of some of the numbers he put up but in the toughest match against Canada he was very inefficient while AJ Dybantsa was the reason the USA won against Canada.
