The Arizona Wildcats have their second commitment in the 2028 football class, as Valley prep product Karmello Calloway announced his pledge on Sunday.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive lineman out of Centennial High School in Peoria is ranked as the No. 564 player in the 2028 class and the No. 37 interior offensive lineman by Rivals.
Calloway visited Arizona and met with position coach Josh Oglesby over the weekend before announcing his choice, picking the Wildcats over other offers including Texas A&M, Wisconsin and Washington.
Calloway plays on the same line at Centennial as Ben Lowther, a 2027 offensive tackle ranked No. 641 overall and No. 51 at his position. Lowther reposted his teammate’s commitment on social media.
Lowther has Arizona among his final four teams he’s considering along with Arizona State, as the Sun Devils designated Lowther a priority target with a Golden Ticket. Washington and Stanford are the other teams in the mix.
Arizona Wildcats’ recruiting outlook for football
Arizona’s 2026 freshman class — head coach Brent Brennan’s second full recruiting cycle — ranks eighth in the Big 12 and 45th in the country after Brennan’s first full class was 10th and 49th, respectively.
The 2026 class is headlined by four-star quarterback Oscar Rios, Noah Fifita’s presumed successor. It also includes a weapon for Rios in wide receiver RJ Mosley (No. 136 overall) and two top-300 interior offensive linemen in Malachi Joyner and Justin Morales.
The Wildcats’ 2027 class sits at two commitments for the time being, wide receiver Trey Smith and athlete Jalani Culpepper. They’re ranked Nos. 772 and 1,046 overall, respectively.
Arizona previously got its first 2028 pledge from edge rusher Simote Tupou, the No. 213 player and No. 22 at his position out of St. John Bosco High School in California.
