Arizona’s upset efforts came up short as the No. 18 BYU Cougars overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Wildcats 33-27 in double overtime in Tucson on Saturday.

After trailing by double digits late, BYU rattled off 10 straight points, six off coming off a Bear Bachmeier rushing touchdown with less than a minute left as the Cougars tied the game following an extra point.

After Arizona and BYU traded field goals in the first possession of overtime, Bachmeier rushed for a seven-yard touchdown to give BYU the lead.

After an unsuccessful two-point conversion by BYU, Noah Fifita and the Arizona offense had a chance to potentially win the game. On fourth down of Arizona’s double overtime possession, Fifita attempted a fade pass to Javin Whatley to the endzone that went incomplete to end the game.

It was rain-soaked night in Tucson as the game was paused for a rain delay that lasted more than an hour.

Arizona’s next game

Following the loss, the Wildcats (4-2, 2-2 Big 12) will travel to TDECU Stadium to take on the Houston Cougars on Oct. 18.

The hold that happened after the RB had already gone by ;) Yeah one of those dubious calls for sure.

The holding call on the TD run in the first OT was the icing on the cake. ugh. Just awful play calls both on O and D in the last 6 min, and 4 brutal penalties. Should have won.
