The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday the release of tight end Jim Dray, who was in his second stint with the organization after signing last Friday.
Dray’s signing last week came as the Cardinals’ tight end position saw injuries to Jermaine Gresham (ribs) and Troy Niklas (hip). Niklas did eventually play in Arizona’s Week 2 overtime win at the Indianapolis Colts.
Dray, meanwhile, appeared in five plays in Week 2, all on special teams.
The 30-year-old Dray played for the Cardinals from 2010-13 before spending 2014-15 with the Cleveland Browns. Dray was the Cardinals’ seventh-round pick (233rd overall) in 2010 out of Stanford.

I'm guessing Gresham will be available for the Dallas game? I know it's just part of the game and vets like Dray understand it but it's gotta be very disappointing to be signed on Friday, suit up and play on Sunday and then released the following Tuesday.
with Gresham and Niklas both nursing injuries already, better keep Dray's phone number on speed dial. I think he could be called back anytime.
That was a quick stay. I thought he might have been here for longer. Wonder what happened, or if it was related to the Cardinals other TEs healing up quicker?
