GLENDALE, Ariz. – With their next game not for at least another 13 days, the Arizona Cardinals could afford to be cautious with the number of players that made up for a rather lengthy injury report leading up to the regular-season finale against Seattle.
Though not surprising, given head coach Bruce Arians’ comments earlier in the week about treating Week 17 as it were Week 1, all but two of the 16 players who showed up on the final injury report will play: linebacker Markus Golden (knee) and defensive tackle Josh Mauro (calf).
Golden and Mauro, who is missing a second straight game, had been ruled out on Friday.
All of this means that starters Michael Floyd and Rashad Johnson, both of whom were listed as questionable, will be in uniform.
Johnson is back after two weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
“I would definitely love to get out there, get a little action; whatever they would allow me to do,” he said earlier in the week. “If I don’t play this week, it’ll be five weeks (of no game action), which I don’t think would be an issue because I think I’m mature enough, old enough to be able to understand how to be able to play in that (divisional playoff) game.
“But I’d love to get some work in; just let your body feel the hits and get the rust off.”
The remaining Cardinals’ inactives are quarterback Matt Barkley, cornerback Corey White, linebacker Shaq Riddick, offensive tackle D.J. Humphries and nose tackle Xavier Williams.
For the Seahawks, running back Marshawn Lynch (abdomen), right guard J.R. Sweezy (concussion), tight end Luke Wilson (concussion), left tackle Russell Okung (calf) and safety Kam Chancellor (pelvis) are out due to injury.
The others not in uniform for Seattle are cornerback Tye Smith and defensive tackle A.J. Francis.
For the Cardinals, a victory over the Seahawks would extend their winning streak to a franchise-high-tying 10 straight games, meaning they will have gone a perfect 8-0 in the second half of the season.
“I saw all those road games in November and December and I was concerned,” head coach Bruce Arians said. “There was a stretch where I knew we were going to play a bunch of playoff teams in a row. Not in my wildest dreams did I think we’d go undefeated through it.”
