The Arizona Cardinals elevated cornerback Kalen King from the practice squad Saturday ahead of their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, King appeared in one game across two seasons with the Packers and Carolina Panthers.

King appeared in 38 games in three seasons (2021-23) with Penn State, registering 80 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He was named third-team All-Big 10 in 2022 and second-team All-Big 10 in 2023.

King’s elevation comes as the Cardinals will be without cornerback Garrett Williams (Achilles) and safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (ribs) on Sunday.

The Cardinals kick off their season against the Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:25 p.m.

Some people are making too much out of Dante Stills starting ahead of Darius Robinson. Simple reason is that what Arizona really needs out of D. Rob is a pass rush. By not starting him, he stays fresher and is better able to supplement the pass rush that Walter Nolen is able to provide.

Impossible to over-estimate what having an elite RB like Jeremiyah Love can have on the overall offense. I expect he's going to have over 100 yards and could go for as much as 150. What I'm waiting for is James Conner and especially Tip Reiman to get healthy, especially Reiman, as he's such a superior run game blocker and so good in pass protection.

I'm not sold on the Chargers Defense being either elite or healthy. Arizona is primed to sneak up on the Chargers. I could see Arizona put up 30-35 points. My fear is that Justin Herbert could light them up, although I don't have a lot of faith in the Chargers receiving corps.
