Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland was honored with the “Nickelodeon Valuable Player” (NVP) award after his heroics in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams.
The NVP is a weekly fan-voted award given to a player each week, formerly as part of “NFL Slimetime,” a program produced by CBS Sports and Nickelodeon targeted for kids. While the show hasn’t aired yet for the 2026 season, the award continues to be given out.
Ryland also won the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his six-field goal performance, including a game-winner, but the slime that came with receiving the NVP trophy might have been a tad more special.

It’s not very often a team’s kicker gets so much glory after a win, but Ryland scored all 18 of Arizona’s points against the Rams.
Despite being single-handedly responsible for the scoring, Ryland believes he still owes his accolades to the team as a whole.
“As much as it says ‘Chad Ryland’ (on the trophy), obviously it was a team and unit effort on Sunday,” Ryland told reporters Wednesday.

And yes, there was slime. 😂
The award might say Chad Ryland, but to the kicker, it’s a group accolade for the six field goals they put up as a unit in Sunday’s win over the Rams. pic.twitter.com/es3AdjuiVW

On the season, Ryland is now 14-for-16 on field goals and 12-for-12 on extra points. His season-long field goal of 60 yards, which came during Week 4 against the New York Giants, is tied for the second-longest in the NFL this season.
