Look out for Gardner Minshew road-tripping Arizona in the near future

TEMPE — Gardner Minshew II largely lives for two things:

– Football
– The open road

His RV parked at the Arizona Cardinals training facility perfectly encapsulates the Minshew vibes.

Just ask his new teammates:

Paris Johnson Jr.: “I remember I asked him, ‘Hey, are you serious about the RV thing or is it like a social media thing that you do?’ He was like, ‘No, I’m serious about hitting that road, brother.'”

Hjalte Froholdt: “The first day (of voluntary work) he pulled up in the sprinter van (RV) and he’s like, ‘Yeah man, I can freaking take a nap and take a shower in the back of that thing, dude. It’s sick.'”

His RV setup is simple.

“It’s got four wheels and a bed, dude,” Minshew said Wednesday.

The possibilities, however, are endless, especially when it comes to traversing the great state of Arizona.

Minshew has already checked plenty of local spots off his list, including Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Every road trip was “good in their own way.”

As for what Minshew has circled next on his map of the state?

“I’d like to try to get out to Greer and do some fly-fishing out there,” Minshew said. “I think that sounds pretty cool. But there’s so much out here. It’s really cool.”

Minshew likely doesn’t have the time to fully enjoy a trip to the eastern Arizona town with the team currently in the middle of organized team activities.

Once mandatory minicamp wraps in early June, though, the water might seriously be calling.

There’s plenty of time for a road trip, too, with training camp not kicking off until late July.

And who knows, he might not be alone. After all, pass rushers Josh Sweat and Zaven Collins have been known to wet a line or two.
