GLENDALE — The Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Jacoby Brissett have nailed down a new contract, confirms Arizona Sports.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the one-year deal is worth $15.5 million but could reach $21 million.
The news of the deal comes after Brissett remained away from the team during voluntary offseason work amid an ask for a raise that paid him as the Cardinals starter.
He did not participate in any of the Cardinals’ organized team activities and held in during Arizona’s lone mandatory minicamp practice but returned to action Thursday for the start of training camp.
Brissett has primary done individual work, with Gardner Minshew II, Carson Beck and Kedon Slovis getting team reps.
The ongoing contract stalemate was among the big question marks for the franchise this offseason. Cardinals safety Budda Baker cryptically voicing his displeasure with the drawn-out process and how Brissett was asking for the “bare minimum” was among the most recent developments.
With negotiations now out of the way, Brissett serves as the likely Week 1 starter for the franchise, though Minshew and Beck are waiting in the wings.
“I’ve always thought he’d be a really good fit for this system,” first-year head coach Mike LaFleur said during April’s NFL owners meeting. “You guys see how big he is back there, his stature, the play-action game. I think he does a good job of getting the ball out of his hands when there is some trouble with the pocket.
“He just looks the part back there,” he added.
Taking over for former franchise quarterback Kyler Murray in Week 6, Brissett finished last year tied for 14th in touchdowns (23), seventh in yards per game (240.4) and 14th in total yards (3,366). While he only posted one win in 12 starts, Brissett moved the offense forward despite a struggling offensive line and nearly nonexistent run game.
A lot of those numbers went to tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson, who each turned in career seasons with Brissett under center.
He’ll now get a chance at replicating some of that success in 2026, though Beck is bound to find his way into the starting lineup at some point.

I don't get this move at all. Why would you waste any money on Jacoby? We have Menshew and Beck. Bidwill you are clueless.
I dont like this at all, but I get it. Minshew is better and Carson will be starting sooner than later, but this distraction is irritating and the Cards have plenty of money. Jacoby will be gone this time next year.
It was inevitable that he'd sign. Now he's the No. 1 and Mike LaFleur is breathing much easier.
