Cardinals add QB Jeff Driskel to practice squad
Jeff Driskel is joining the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad as the team reshapes the quarterback depth chart with Kyler Murray sent to IR.

Jeff Driskel is joining the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad on Thursday as the team reshapes the quarterback depth chart with Kyler Murray sent to injured reserve a day prior, reports Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro.
The Cardinals made the move official and said Driskel will wear jersey No. 15.
Jacoby Brissett is the starter for the next four games at least, but Driskel gives Arizona a relatively experienced option on the depth chart. Current backup Kedon Slovis only has preseason experience under his belt since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent last season.
Driskel enters with familiarity with the offense, having spent time with the 2023 Cardinals as a backup and practice squad member.
He worked out for Arizona on Oct. 29 along with quarterbacks Kyle Trask and Logan Woodside.
The 32-year-old entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick in 2016 and has 25 games (12 starts) of experience between stints in San Francisco, Cincinnati, Detroit, Denver, Houston, Arizona, Cleveland, Washington and Las Vegas.
Driskel last started a game at the end of the 2023 season for the Browns, when he completed 50% of his throws for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

I've been going back to look at tape of Slovis and the more I watch, the more I think he could be a diamond in the rough. In a lot of ways, he's like Sam Darnold. They're the same size, similar arm strength and while at USC both made a lot of wow plays. He's still young (24) and seems to be improving. For years Kurt Warner has sung the praises of Slovis, particularly how football smart he was, and how, because of his visual perception skills, he had real potential to develop into someone who saw the field at an elite level. Slovis had the misfortune of getting injured, as well as being at USC at the same time as Jaxson Dart, who looks like the real deal. Since his first year, he's really improved his overall conditioning, his arm strength and his decision-making. Around the league, USC QBs are enjoying a lot of success. Jacoby is taking so many shots, it seems unavoidable that he'll end up missing time at some point during the rest of the season. I really hope that it's Slovis that's given the chance to replace him, although I don't think it would necessarily be a bad thing if they turned to Driskel.
I like the addition of Jeff Driskel, considering the Options that were available to the Cardinals. He's got good size like Brissett (actually bigger), has a stronger arm and is more mobile, i.e. much faster and quicker. Granted he's likely not a long-term option, but he's a good guy to help them transition.
The Cards had to get another QB - Brissett and Slovis were the only ones on the roster (active or PS). Slovis will apparently still be #2, for now.
I agree on Slovis. While I generally have difficulty finding many (any?) good NFL QB's that came from UCS, Slovis may be an exception. He will definitely be ahead of Driskel on the depth chart and who knows? He may get a chance if Brissett goes down.
