Kyler Murray signs 1-year contract with Minnesota Vikings
Former Arizona Cardinals franchise quarterback Kyler Murray has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Former Arizona Cardinals franchise quarterback Kyler Murray has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, his agent told reporters.

Murray is owed $36.8 million by the Cardinals after his release, minus what NFL Network reports is the minimum salary and includes a no-trade clause. The 2019 draft’s No. 1 overall pick is expected to compete for the starting job with 2024 No. 10 overall pick J.J. McCarthy.
Murray was officially released by the Cardinals upon the start of the new league year on Wednesday.
The Vikings represented the most likely landing spot for Murray this offseason and was the first team linked to the signal caller upon his release. The quarterback now links up with head coach Kevin O’Connell, who is not that far removed from helping turn Sam Darnold’s career around in 2024.
The ex-Cardinal appeared in just five games last year before a midfoot sprain sidelined the quarterback for the rest of the season.
Across 87 starts as a Cardinal, the 2019 No. 1 overall pick posted a 38-48-1 record. He completed 67.1% of his throws for 20,460 yards and 121 touchdowns to 60 interceptions during his Arizona tenure. He added 3,193 yards and 32 touchdowns on 532 carries.
His major career accomplishments are highlighted by two Pro Bowls (2020-21) and an Offensive Rookie of the Year honor (2019).
But after seven seasons and just one playoff appearance, it was time for the Cardinals and Murray to part ways.
Arizona now enters its post-Murray era, one where a clear-cut starting quarterback is not yet defined under new head coach Mike LaFleur.

He may not be the tallest, or have the biggest arm, but he's definitely the best Call of Duty player in that locker room.
He will do what he did here -- suck for most of the games he plays, but have enough exciting moments in 3 of them to get everyone excited about "what can happen when all the pieces around him are in place." I hope for Vikings fans their front office is smarter than ours.
They've lost more Super Bowls.
