The Arizona Cardinals have placed rookie running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Love exited Arizona’s Week 8 victory against the Dallas Cowboys with a right ankle injury, now labeled as a high-ankle sprain. Love missed the team’s previous two games with a different lingering ankle injury.

“It’s a higher one,” Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo. “It’s just been crazy unfortunate for the kid. … All he wants to do is be out there and help out his teammates, produce and win football games. So it’s a setback, for sure.”

Love was selected with the third-overall pick in the 2026 draft, but the ankle issues have marred what was expected to be a big season for him. In six games, he’s carried the ball 76 times for 268 yards and one touchdown, while adding a receiving touchdown on 11 catches for 36 yards.

Against Dallas, Love had nine carries for 26 yards before his injury occurred.

Love will now be out for the next four to five weeks.

Another Cardinal first rounder missing most of his freshman season!. It maybe me, but those players never seem to rebound after missing most of season 1.

Tough for the player and the team. Maybe JC can help them soon.
