Marvin Harrison Jr. ‘good enough to go,’ Michael Wilson should still get his vs. Falcons

TEMPE — The mystery behind Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.’s game status for Sunday has been answered. And by the man himself.

Ahead of his team’s tilt against the Atlanta Falcons, Harrison said he and his heel injury are “good enough to go” following two days of practice and a walkthrough — albeit on a limited basis.

That being said, Harrison added he’ll likely play through the injury the rest of the season.

“Just (want to) continue to get better,” Harrison said when asked about what he wants to accomplish the rest of the way. “Just put good things on tape and help the team as much as I can.

“Probably playing through the injury the rest of the year, just kind of dealing with that, and just go out there and just have fun. Be grateful for the opportunity that you have and just help the guys, help the team win.”

For a player who missed one game (not injury related) from the time he got to Ohio State in 2021, Harrison has been sidelined four times this season, twice because of the heel issue. The others due to appendicitis.

With the uncharacteristic absences impacting another up-and-down season for Harrison, the wide receiver currently sits at 40 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns with three games to play.

He is 22 catches, 291 yards and four scores away from tying his rookie marks.

Harrison will get a good chance at making up for some lost time against a Falcons defense that has struggled to keep wide receivers at bay behind the fourth-most touchdowns with 17 and 2,106 yards allowed to the position this year.

But he’s not the only one who could end up feasting on Atlanta’s defense this week.

From a Cardinals perspective, seeing Harrison back in the fold is a positive.

There’s plenty invested in the young wide receiver after Arizona pulled the trigger on Harrison with the No. 4 overall pick last year.

That, however, is not music to the ears of plenty of fantasy football managers rolling out Michael Wilson as their WR1 for playoffs this week.

Wilson has excelled as Arizona’s WR1 in place of Harrison behind 499 yards and three scores on 41 catches (60 targets).

And while Harrison returning has limited Wilson’s output in the past, Arizona’s pass-heavy offense — plus what he’s proven to the coaching staff — should continue to keep the latter involved.

There could be even more emphasis to get the duo going this week, too, given how tough the Falcons defense has been against tight ends.

Heading into the weekend slate of games, Atlanta has allowed the second-fewest touchdowns (two) and third-fewest receiving yards (498) to tight ends in 2025.

Then again, it’s Trey McBride we’re talking about. Even against the stingiest of defenses, he’s going to show up in a major way more times than not.
