Arizona Cardinals starting cornerback Max Melton will not return to action against the Seattle Seahawks after injuring his toe, the team announced.
Melton was seen headed to the locker room in the third quarter with his shoe in his hand after getting checked out in the blue medical tent, then was ruled out about 20 minutes later.
Minutes earlier, Melton stumbled while trying to defend Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a touchdown score that put Seattle up 14-7.

Melton’s loss is a huge blow for Arizona’s secondary, which has been struggling on Sunday. Smith-Njigba scored his third touchdown of the day to go along with eight receptions and 151 yards minutes into the fourth quarter.
Backup cornerback Kei’Trel Clark filled in for Melton.
Melton recorded three tackles, including a tackle for loss, prior to his exit. He recorded a tackle and two passes defended in the Cardinals’ Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
