Cardinals pick up OL Paris Johnson Jr.’s 5th-year option

The Arizona Cardinals are picking up offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr.’s fifth-year option, the team confirmed Thursday.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo was first to report Johnson’s 2027 option will pay out $19.95 million, per OverTheCap’s fifth-year option projections.

Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort and head coach Mike LaFleur confirm Paris Johnson Jr.'s fifth-year option has been picked up.

Johnson is coming off his third NFL season after landing with the Cardinals as the No. 6 overall pick in 2023.

The offensive lineman quickly found a home in the starting lineup, making 17 starts at right tackle his rookie season before playing on the left side the past two seasons.

He’s made 26 starts since, serving as Arizona’s most consistent presence along the offensive line in recent seasons. That includes 12 starts this past season before a sprained MCL cut his season short.

Johnson also missed two games the season prior due to a knee injury.

Even with the injuries, Johnson ranks at the top of general manager Monti Ossenfort’s most successful draft picks since 2023. As expected, Johnson has filled the role as Arizona’s cornerstone in the trenches.

On top of his play on the field and leadership within the locker room, Johnson has also given back to the Arizona community. One of his big charitable events includes his annual Thanksgiving food drive with veteran lineman Kelvin Beachum.

He also started the Ohio High School Offensive Lineman of the Year award through his Paris Johnson Jr. Foundation, which focuses on giving back to the youth and military.
