Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was named as one of the top tight ends in the NFL headed into the 2025 season by Remember The Tight Ends’ Max Toscano.

Toscano listed McBride as the second-best tight end headed into 2025, behind only San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle. He notes that that McBride’s performance last season and multi-purpose use in his position as reasons for placement on the list.

Trey McBride’s breakout had a breakout, and he’s become one of the most dynamic multi-tools in the NFL. As essentially the Cardinals’ WR1, McBride carried their passing game to 100+ catches and 1100+ yards in 16 games. McBride’s agility, acceleration/deceleration and control make him an effective separator from any alignment, allowing the Cardinals, built around heavy bodies and a diverse run game, to bulk up without losing a legitimate volume pass-catcher and consistent route-runner.

Toscano added that McBride’s improvement as a blocker and his strength makes a difficult player for opposing defenses to go up against.

He’s also a great creator with the ball in his hands. Where McBride has continued to improve is in-line as a blocker. He’s not huge, but at 6’4, 245 he isn’t tiny either. McBride weaponizes an extra-low stance in tight positions to guarantee leverage, and with his ferocious mindset and good strength, consistently gets the job done even in difficult matchups when asked.

How does Trey McBride look headed into 2025?

McBride being listed among the best tight ends in the NFL is no surprise, especially after his 2024 season where he registered a 111 receptions on 147 targets for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns.

He finished second in the NFL among tight ends in receptions and receiving yards, only behind Las Vegas Raiders’ Brock Bowers. For his efforts, McBride was named a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career.

Despite leading the Cardinals in targets last season with 111, McBride didn’t register a receiving touchdown until Week 17 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Its just amazing that MCB is always open. He can't be covered. Petzing needs to use that to force bigger plays.

I’m taking Trey McBride over George Kittle as thee best TE in the NFL. Kittle is elite and an awesome weapon but he’s in his early 30s now, injury prone and maxed out as a talent. McBride is what 24-25yrs old, has an Elite 90.9 receiving grade over last two years and he’s still getting BETTER which is crazy. McBride is more athletic and faster as well with 4.49-4.51 40 speed @250lbs. McBride is an elite #1 receiving TE and I think #1WR MHJ joins the ranks of the elite this year giving us two generational weapons essentially two #1 and with the rise of big Tip Reiman n Higgins behind him AZ now has the best TE room in the NFL hands down.
