Suns sign second-round draft pick Alec Peters

The Phoenix Suns announced they have signed 2017 second-round pick Alec Peters on Monday.
His contract will be a two-way deal, according to Basketball Insiders’ Eric Pincus, meaning his addition will not count toward the 15-man roster maximum. It will give the 6-foot-9, 232-pound forward from Valparaiso the chance to move between Phoenix and the Northern Arizona Suns in the G League.
Peters averaged 23 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 47 percent overall and 36-percent from three-point range during his senior season.
He joins Mike James as the Suns’ two players under two-way contracts. However, James is reportedly set to join the Suns for the full 45 days to start the season before the team will decide whether to sign him for the rest of the year under a minimum contract or let him walk.
The Suns’ roster now stands at 16 players with free agent center Alex Len’s qualifying offer still on the table. His contract would cap the roster at 15, plus the two-way deals.
Phoenix will also reportedly bring Iowa guard Peter Jok to camp. If an open spot remains, he could make the roster or be sent to the G League team.
