Bercovici was on his way to the Valley from California at the time of the news.
The former Sun Devil went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and then was signed by the San Diego Chargers before being released by them during final roster cuts.
He was signed on a futures contract by the team in January, only to be waived during final roster cuts once again on Sept. 2.
In his 2015 season for the Sun Devils, Bercovici threw for 3,854 yards, 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while also rushing for an additional six touchdowns in his 13 starts.
Cardinals starting quarterback Carson Palmer broke his left arm in Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London. Backup quarterbacks Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert are the two other signal-callers on the roster.
