In his third straight appearance in the NBA’s All-Star Saturday Night, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker captured the title for the NBA Three-Point Contest 2018.
The fourth participant to shoot in the first round, Booker caught fire at the top of the key, carrying the momentum through the final two racks to finish with 19 points and advance to the championship round.
“I always said I wanted to represent my city the best I can,” Booker told reporters after the contest. “So season not going how we planned, but I know a lot of the city was ready for the All-Star Weekend, having somebody participate.
“So I’m glad I could win it.”
Booker faced Los Angeles Clippers forward Tobias Harris and Golden State Warriors guard and 2016 winner of the three-point contest Klay Thompson in the final round.
Carrying the momentum from his strong finish in the first round, Booker went off for 28 points to capture the title and set a new three-point contest record.
The strong showing from the 21-year-old beat out Harris’ 17 points and Thompson’s 25.
It was Booker’s second appearance in the three-point contest, his first coming during his rookie season where he placed third. Last season he was the runner-up in the skills challenge.
