Free agent wide receiver and former Buffalo Bill Jordan Matthews is visiting the Arizona Cardinals Friday, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Mike Jurecki.
Matthews, of course, spent his first three years with the Philadelphia Eagles, where new Cardinals quarterback Sam Bradford started in 2015.
In that 2015 season, Matthews had a career-high 85 catches and 997 yards, along with eight touchdowns.
After catching at least 67 balls and amounting to at least 800 receiving yards in his first three seasons, Matthews had a down year in Buffalo.
Traded with a third-round pick by the Eagles for cornerback Ronald Darby, Matthews had 25 receptions for 282 yards and one touchdown in 10 games. He missed time due to thumb and knee injuries, the latter of which saw him placed on injured reserve in early December.
Matthews was originally drafted in the second round by the Eagles in 2014.
The Cardinals will have cornerstone Larry Fitzgerald leading the wide receivers group, but there’s not much help around him at the moment. Free agent John Brown signed with the Baltimore Ravens and free agent Jaron Brown has reportedly met with the Seattle Seahawks.
The four receivers on the roster outside of Fitzgerald are Carlton Agudosi, J.J. Nelson, Rashad Ross and 2017 third-round pick Chad Williams.
