Phoenix Suns open training camp with less of a learning curve

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The newness is gone, and that’s a positive.
A year ago, the Phoenix Suns opened training camp with a new GM, new head coach, new coaching staff and nine new players. Plus, the location was new. The Suns held two-a-day workouts at 7,000-elevation at Northern Arizona University for the first time since 2004.
In other words, what was once new is now old.
Well, everything except for the high altitude. That hasn’t changed.
“It wasn’t too bad,” said point guard Isaiah Thomas, following the first practice on Tuesday, one that was limited to instruction, drills and conditioning. Scrimmaging comes in the evening sessions.
