Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly hit his first career home run in Saturday’s 9-2 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

The big-fly was the second of back-to-back home runs by Nick Ahmed and Kelly that came in the second inning off Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland to give the D-backs a 3-0 lead.

Kelly was given the silent treatment upon his return to the dugout before being mobbed by his teammates.

The 24-year-old has seen career highs since being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in the Paul Goldschmidt trade.

Coming into Saturday night’s game, Kelly had career highs in batting average (.182), slugging percentage (.309), on-base percentage (.520) and RBI (7).

And obviously with his home run being the first of his career, Kelly now has another career high for the 2019 season.

Those statistics have all come within his 55 at-bats in 18 games.

His career high in at-bats and games played came in 2017 with the Cardinals as he had 69 at-bats in 34 games.

With Saturday night being Kelly’s 19th appearance for Arizona, the catcher should expect to see even more career highs in his first season with the D-backs.
