You can’t really say you’re shocked at this point, can you?
For the fifth time in 38 losses this season, the Phoenix Suns were done in by a buzzer beater from an opposing player.
Thursday night, it was Harrison Barnes who hit a runner in the lane with 0.4 seconds left to lift the Golden State Warriors to a 107-106 win over the Suns in Oakland.
The win was Golden State’s 11th in a row. It was the fifth straight loss for the Suns.
This was the Suns’ first loss at the buzzer since Feb. 8, when Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins hit a jumper from the top of key that bounced on the rim four or five times before falling through for an 85-83 win.
Houston’s MVP candidate James Harden buried the Suns with a last-second shot in January. At least he had the common decency to hit a pure jumper that didn’t get any help from a forgiving rim.
Before that, it was Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton with a late-game kick to the midsection in the Bucks’ 96-94 win at US Airways Center in December.
And a week before that, Blake Griffin of the Clippers started this cruel and unusual trend by hitting a right-wing three-pointer that was aided by the rim and backboard in L.A.’s 121-120 overtime win.
