The Phoenix Suns announced Thursday that shooting guard Devin Booker will begin raising funds for COVID-19 relief efforts on Booker’s Twitch channel.

Booker is kicking things off with a $100,000 donation that Phoenix Suns Charities will match.

“With countless people around the globe turning to streaming to get their mind off things, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring people together, raise awareness and help those in need at the same time,” Booker said in a press release. “These are trying times that transcend basketball and I would like to call on everyone to be good teammates as we deal with this challenge together.”

With the NBA season suspended due to coronavirus, Booker has been streaming on Twitch fairly actively since the news.

For those unfamiliar, Twitch is a platform where people stream themselves playing video games. The site grew immense popularity the past couple of years with the rise of the sub-genre of battle royale games, such as Fortnite, PlayerUnknown’s: Battlegrounds and Apex: Legends.

Call of Duty’s latest dive into the battle royale space had a timely release on March 10 titled Call of Duty: Warzone, which has been Booker’s latest title of choice to stream.

Donations on Twitch are a way for viewers of the stream to get their favorite personalities to read their message, give someone a shoutout and more. For Booker, those funds for the foreseeable future on his stream will go to relief efforts.
