Larry Fitzgerald has taken a new venture into the world of business as Dick’s Sporting Goods announced that the Cardinals all-time great has been added to its board of directors the company said in a release on Thursday.

“Larry has a deep understanding of the business of sports and its market dynamics. Larry is a man of integrity, and he shares our values and our commitment to caring for communities. Based on his background, Larry will be a great addition to our Board,” chairman and CEO Ed Stack said.

Fitzgerald has been involved with the company for nearly 10 years and joined the Sports Matter Advisory Board in 2018 in support of youth sports participation.

“We share a passion for sports, supporting young people and serving our communities,” Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald, who has made significant donations to the area where he grew up in Minnesota, may see the partnership as a way to give back to his college town. Dick’s is based in Pittsburgh, where he played college football for the Pitt Panthers.

“I could not be more excited to join the board and share my experience and knowledge to help Dick’s grow and continue to be a leader in the retail and sports industries,” Fitzgerald said.

It has been an active offseason for Fitzgerald who purchased a minority share of the Phoenix Suns in January.

He also finished 25th last weekend at the American Century Championship golf tournament and won his second Pebble Beach Pro-Am championship in February.
