Arizona Diamondbacks rookie Wyatt Mathisen had a day to remember in Wednesday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Mathisen hit his first career home run and totaled two for the game as the D-backs won 7-3.

He became the 15th rookie in D-backs history to hit two home runs in a single game and the first player to hit his first home run in a multi-homer game.

Mathisen smacked his first homer in the fifth inning 412 feet to left field.

He followed that bomb with a two-run homer the very next inning to help the D-backs break open a lead they would not relinquish.

Arizona exploded in the sixth inning, chasing two pitchers out of the game while racking up two homers, two triples and three singles in the six-run inning.

Tim Locastro contributed the second homer of the inning for the D-backs going back-to-back with Mathisen for a solo shot.

Mathisen was recalled by the D-backs on Sunday after hitting .283 with 23 home runs and 61 RBI last season in Triple-A Reno.
