The Arizona State football team will don Adidas throwback alternate uniforms from 1975 during their home contest against UCLA on Saturday.

The Sun Devils will wear the throwbacks to honor the ASU squad, which went undefeated and won both the WAC conference title and the Fiesta Bowl.

The team did the latter in a 17-14 victory over Nebraska during the fifth iteration of the Valley bowl game, capping off a perfect 12-0 season.

The Sun Devils dominated their opponents that fall, outscoring them 347-127, resulting in the team finding its way into the AP’s weekly poll in 13 of the 15 rankings.

The uniform features the school’s “sunburst” helmet decal with a yellow sun outlined in maroon, to go with maroon jerseys and yellow pants.

That 1975 team was led by then-head coach Frank Kush, who was in his 18th season with at ASU.

The Sun Devils went 7-0 in conference play that year, besting in-state rival Arizona for the conference crown after beating the Wildcats 24-21 in the regular season finale.

The 1975 ASU team still holds the school record for highest end of season ranking, finishing second overall in the final AP poll.

That team featured four future NFL draft picks, including first round selections Mike Haynes and Larry Gordon, who were picked by the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, respectively.

The Sun Devils last wore the “sunburst” throwbacks during the team’s game against San Diego State in 2017, with the Aztecs winning that contest 30-20.

The iconic ASU logo has not been featured on the team’s uniforms since the 1979 season.
