Not many wide receivers in the NFL should think they are the best, but Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is one of them.

Even with his bye week already on the books, he still enters Week 9 as the league leader in receptions (57) and receiving yards (704).

That’s now, and he’s still got a claim for his run in the past few years.

Going from the last three seasons, 2017-19 when Hopkins got Deshaun Watson as his quarterback in Houston, he ranked third in receiving yards (4,115), first in touchdowns (31) and second in receptions (315), per Football-Reference.

The only players ahead of Hopkins in receiving yards were the New Orleans Saints’ Michael Thomas and Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaking of Jones, he and the Green Bay Packers’ Davante Adams were two players to say recently they think they’re the best at the position.

Hopkins found that amusing, replying to an ESPN Instagram post on Friday.

Hopkins said entering the season he believed he’s the top guy at his position.

“I definitely think I’m the best,” Hopkins said on ESPN’s Jalen & Jacoby in late May. “I know I’m the best.”

He was asked with Thomas and Jones brought up specifically.

“Mike’s my boy. I love Mike. But he knows if I had Drew Brees my whole career what these numbers would be. Julio Jones knows if I had Matt Ryan my whole career. That’s my boy. I trained with Julio, too. He knows what these numbers would be.

“Those guys are definitely blessed to be in a position where, their whole career, they had a Pro Bowl quarterback — quarterback that they spent multiple seasons with. But I don’t complain. I don’t make excuses. I go out there and work.”

He certainly has been out working thus far in his debut Cardinals season.
