Ricky Rubio is going back to where it started for him in the NBA. Two days after the Phoenix Suns traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a package to acquire Chris Paul, the Thunder have reportedly agreed to trade him to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

The T-Wolves are trading the 17th overall pick for Rubio and the Nos. 25 and 28 picks, reports The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynki. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the trade.

Rubio averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 8.8 assists last season, his only year with the Suns. The 30-year-old point guard signed with Phoenix last offseason on a three-year, $51 million deal.

He was the No. 5 overall pick by Minnesota in the 2009 draft.

Rubio stayed overseas for a few seasons after being drafted before making his NBA debut with the T-Wolves in 2011. He played for Minnesota through 2016-17 before he was dealt to the Utah Jazz. He spent two years in Utah before reaching free agency and joining the Suns.

He landed on the Thunder on Monday in the Paul trade that also saw the Suns ship out Kelly Oubre Jr., Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and a future draft pick. Phoenix acquired Paul as well as wing Abdel Nader in the trade.

Oklahoma City, in a rebuild, dumped Paul’s massive contract on the Suns and now gets out of Rubio’s deal that ends following the 2021-22 season.
