The Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday signed seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green on a one-year contract, the team announced.
It is worth up to $8 million, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, while the base contract will pay Green $6 million, confirms John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports.
Gambadoro also reports the New England Patriots were also in the running to land Green.
Green is coming off the least productive year of his NFL career with 523 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals, a team he’s spent his entire career with dating back to 2011.
The receiver missed the entire 2019 season due to an ankle injury that included torn ligaments but did appear in 16 games with the Bengals last year in an offense led by rookie No. 1 pick Joe Burrow for 10 games before Burrow was knocked out for the season.
Green, 32, has 9,430 career receiving yards and six 1,000-yard seasons since he was the fourth overall pick in 2011.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver last made a Pro Bowl in 2017.
He joins a receiver room led by DeAndre Hopkins and bolstered by Christian Kirk.
The Cardinals also have Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson entering their third years in the NFL and are awaiting word on whether future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald will retire or consider playing his 18th season with Arizona.
