Arizona State men’s basketball is adding a proven scorer at the guard position. On Saturday, Illinois State sophomore DJ Horne announced he will transfer to the Sun Devils squad.
Horne averaged a team-high 15.1 points per game for the Redbirds this past season while shooting 44.6% from the field and 42.4% on six 3-point attempts per game.
He also averaged 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals over 29.8 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-1 guard, who was named to the third-team All-Missouri Valley Conference, has three years of eligibility remaining.

Horne joins Toledo senior guard Marreon Jackson, Boston College sophomore guard Jay Heath and Robert Morris junior forward A.J. Bramah as recent players to transfer to ASU.
The team has also received a commitment from 2022 four-star center Enoch Boakye, who will reclassify in attempt to play this coming season.
The Sun Devils men’s basketball program is experiencing an immense amount of turnover this year.
Jaelen House, Holland Woods, Pavlo Dziuba, Chris Osten, Taeshon Cherry and Kyle Feit have all put their names into the transfer portal, and Josh Christopher and Marcus Bagley have declared for the NBA Draft.
ASU will continue to regroup and keep an eye on the transfer portal. The NCAA announced on Thursday that DI players will be able to transfer one time without having to sit out for a season. This legislation needs to be ratified by the Division I Board of Directors, which will meet on April 28.
