After tossing seven hitless innings against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Madison Bumgarner’s game-worn hat is heading to Cooperstown.
It was announced on social media that Bumgarner’s hat was being packaged and sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Friday, where it will be displayed.
In a doubleheader against the Braves, Zac Gallen allowed one hit in seven innings before Bumgarner did him one better and threw seven hitless innings.
After the unofficial no-hitter, the D-backs announced a special ticket promotion that includes a $14 dollar ticket in honor of the 14 scoreless innings pitched by Bumgarner and Gallen.
While the no-hitter does not count in the record books because it was only seven innings, the D-backs will be celebrating the feat by giving fans the opportunity to see and take pictures with the jerseys worn by the two pitchers on top of Bumgarner’s hat getting sent to the Hall of Fame.
The jerseys will be displayed on Friday and Saturday, as Gallen and Bumgarner are slated to pitch.
