The Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday were allocated Austrian tight end Bernhard Seikovits in order for the 23-year-old to take part in training camp.

Seikovits — whose full name is pronounced BURN-hard SIKE-oh-vitts — makes the Cardinals one of three teams participating in the NFL International Player Pathway Program.

That means the 6-foot-5, 262-pound Seikovits will be with the team through camp and can be added to the practice squad afterward with an exemption that would allow the Cardinals to carry an extra player.

Seikovits joins a tight end group that includes Maxx Williams and Darrell Daniels at the top of the depth chart. Ian Bunting, who has one year of NFL experience, is the only other tight end listed on the roster.

The Cardinals have also reportedly added undrafted rookies Cary Angeline out of North Carolina State and Bruno Labelle from Cincinnati.

Seikovits is a captain for the Austrian men’s national football team and native of Vienna.

He has won two European titles with the national club’s Under-19 squad while playing as a quarterback. Seikovits has played for the Under-19 national team since he was 16 years old and has also played for the Vienna Vikings club.

The Cardinals previously participated in the NFL International Practice Squad Program — a similar program that ran from 2004-09 — by signing Mexican guard Rolando Cantu in 2004 and Mexican linebacker Eduardo Castaneda in 2008.

Cantu made an appearance on Arizona’s active roster in 2005 and became the first Mexican-born player to appear in a regular season NFL game. He is now the team’s manager of international business ventures.
