Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo named his starting pitcher for Sunday’s series finale with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Right-handed pitcher Matt Peacock will be on the bump for the D-backs in Game 4 of the four-game set at Chase Field.
The 27-year-old rookie will be making the third start of his career at the Major League level.
Peacock has made a total of 10 appearances for the D-backs this season, the last two of which were as a starting pitcher.
In that time, the right-hander has only allowed a run in four games and given up more than one run just twice.
Unfortunately for the rookie, seven of the 12 earned runs he’s allowed in 2021 came in one outing and has caused his ERA to balloon to 4.91.
Take away the seven runs given up against the Colorado Rockies over 0.1 innings on May 1, and Peacock has an ERA of 2.34 to go along with 15 strikeouts and a 1-1 record.
The D-backs’ rookie will be going up against Cardinals left-hander Kwang Hyun Kim, who has a 1-2 record to go along with a 3.09 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. on Sunday. Catch all the action on ESPN 620 AM.
