The Pulse: The free agent signing of Tyson Chandler is met with overwhelming approval

It’s not all doom and gloom for fans of the Phoenix Suns this offseason. While the Suns missed their opportunity to land the biggest available fish in NBA free agency in LaMarcus Aldridge, they din’t exactly come away empty-handed. On Wednesday, Phoenix reportedly agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract with free agent and former Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler.
Though free agent signings don’t become official until July 8, we asked fans in our Sanderson Ford Poll Question what they thought of the deal between the Suns and Chandler.
According to the poll, an overwhelming number of voters (62 percent, 1,207 votes) thought the move to sign Chandler was a great move by the Suns organization, as fans believe Chandler’s presence in the lineup and the locker room will provide the team with much needed veteran leadership.
Twenty-five percent (489 votes) were lukewarm on the acquisition, while 11 percent thought the Suns may have overpaid.
Of the 1,948 votes cast, only two percent (46 votes) believed it was a terrible move on the Suns part.
The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2011-12) has averaged 8.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 59.1 percent from the field for his career, and will join Alex Len, Markieff Morris and Jon Leuer in the Phoenix frontcourt.
