The Phoenix Suns are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993.
It’s been almost three decades since the Valley’s oldest professional sports franchise reached basketball’s greatest stage.
And within the 28-year drought for Phoenix in the NBA Finals, new generations of Suns fans have since been born and are experiencing a Western Conference title for the first time in their lives.
But that doesn’t mean Day 1 Suns fans have been forgotten.
In fact, the generational gap between NBA Finals appearances has provided Suns fans a unique opportunity to share a similar experience as kids with their own children.
Whether it’s the third championship appearance is a charm or the first time witnessing Phoenix in the NBA Finals — like this writer and Valley native — there’s no questioning that the Valley has truly rallied behind this Suns team.
On Thursday, Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta posed the question: What were Suns fans doing the last time Phoenix made the NBA Finals in 1993?
#Suns fans where were you/what were you doing the last time Phoenix made the NBA Finals in 1993? How about the first time they made the Finals in 1976?

My mom was there in ‘76 and I was 8 years old in ‘93. This is a dream come true. The fans deserve a title! pic.twitter.com/Bnh0c2Dv2X

1993: 3 months before I was born. My mom was wearing my dad’s Barkley jersey that I wore last night holding my almost 2 year old. In other words, this is special. pic.twitter.com/gysE9bxvkm
