LONDON (AP) — British boxer Kid Galahad, also known as Abdul Barry Awad, dropped his appeal for a positive test for the steroid stanozolol, U.K. Anti-Doping said on Friday.
The 25-year-old Galahad failed a doping test on Sept. 20, after he defeated Adeilson Dos Santos in Sheffield for the vacant IBF youth super bantamweight title.
Galahad was banned in May, then dropped his appeal. His ban began from the date of the test, he was disqualified from the fight, and had to forfeit his prize money.
Galahad was the reigning European and Commonwealth super bantamweight champion.
Galahad “has jeopardized his promising career, and his reputation,” UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead said.
