Poppen, 27, was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in Round 19 of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Harvard University.
However, he would only play in 10 games over two years in the big leagues for the Twins.
In 2021, it’s possible the D-backs are the third team Poppen pitches for.
He started the year in Pittsburgh after being claimed off waivers by them in October 2020, but was purchased by the Rays on May 18, 2021.
Poppen appeared in three games for the Pirates and only pitched in one game for Tampa, recording two outs.
As for Crichton, he has an 0-4 record with a 7.33 ERA in 23.1 innings of work in 2021.
He had a career year in 2020 for the D-backs, where he had a 2.42 ERA for the season.
